Grocery Shopping Paleo Style

What do you eat in a week?
Do you purposely plan your meals?
Do do you buy precooked food for the week and stop through the drive thru multiple times a week?
Don't get me wrong, sometime it is a time saver to have a few frozen meals ready in a pinch.
Who isn't tempted{and given into temptation} to drive thru your nearest fast food restaurant?
It all happens but after reading the following article it solidified the choice to eat paleo

Are you like the average american family?

This and the following photos is from an article Infowars

I have to say I was THOROUGHLY grossed out!
Now if this is how your family eats I mean no offence but this is why the American
people are obese, diabetic, racked with disease and the like.
Now before you think that just Americans are poor eaters...
think again!

Great Britans weekly food consumption

Mexico...did you count the 2 liters of Coke? 12, TWELVE!!!!

Chad, this reminds me to NEVER complain about my grocery budget!

Now to show me mine now that I am eating a simple, natural, unprocessed diet

We eat pretty simply, my boys cereal/protein bars are probably the most processed food we consume.
Now even though there isn't a lot of food don't equate this with a small amount of money spent. I made some yummy meals with this trip like sweet potato fries and breaded chicken, quiche, and garden meatballs.

I am very pro organically grown food, humanly treated animal meals and products, which all cost.
But I would rather spend it natural foods than on medicine and Dr. visits.
What does your weekly grocery shopping look like?

Thankful Thursday~Four weeks with 2 boys

Today my new baby Elliot is 4 weeks old! Oh how time flies with 2! It is amazing that I am able to get anything accomplished! But some how I am able to:

  1. keep our new little home clean,
  2. laundry done,
  3. boys fed, diapered, and clothed,
  4. cook breakfast, lunch and dinner
  5. Grocery shop
I also am able at times to do things for myself with and without the boys

  1. Attend MOPS and Building Blocks
  2. Go shopping for clothes for MYSELF!!!
  3. Go out with girlfriends
  4. In Feburary attend Bible study
Its definitely harder with two, it takes twice as long to do anything, but I love my boys and wouldn't trade it for the world! I am so thankful for my family I wouldn't trade them for anything!

Stroller Shopping

I am always so frustrated when I enter a baby store! Why in the world is baby gear SO EXPENSIVE!!! We are expecting our second boy in a little under 3 months. So I was in BuyBuyBaby looking for a double stroller that will fit into my Honda Civic trunk.
The stroller (see below) that goes with my car seat is HUGE
The Chicco Double stroller suggested retail $300.00
It folded well but it is huge! I mean I am only 5'2 and that handle has to be 4'3 high! It was to my chest!

Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Sug. Retail $280.00

This is the one I want but the didn't have for me to test out my car seat. But these two strollers where the cheapest price wise, but overall well made strollers. I am still fearful that non of them will fit into our very very VERY small car trunk.

How did you pick your stroller?

This whole process is stressful. So many options, so many models, so many prices, so many review... AGH it is enough to make a woman go mad! My sweet hubby was with me and said "why are you stressing about this, just pick the one you like best." I wish it were that easy, however there are too many what if's.

Where do you do your research? This Diva momma needs some help!!!!

Bargain shopping is my hearts desire!

I am so about bargains, free stuff, and nearly free stuff. There are so many ways, and avenues to help you find them. I feel that as a stay at home mom my way of helping is to maximize the most out of the finances my husbands has worked hard to make. I have several website that help me find those deals and bargains. Here are a few that I LOVE!
  1. Hip2save
  2. TotallyTarget
  3. Balancing Beauty and Bedlam
  4. Freebies4Mom
Some of the best places I have found savings are:
  1. Kroger
  2. Tom Thumb
  3. Target
  4. CVS
What I do to save a ton!
  1. I check Hip2Save, she updates several time a day the deals at different stores
  2. I have signed up for different stores email, especially clothing stores
  3. Clip coupons, and have them organized! I keep a coupon binder (There a a TON of youtube videos on how to make one!)
  4. CLEARANCE, CLEARANCE, CLEARANCE!!!
  5. Double up on the coupons, (ex. Store coupon like Tom Thumb has coupons in the weekly ads,+ manufacture coupons you get in the Sunday ads, or online = double savings!)
This is just a few of the ways I save money. When it comes to clothing and household items, the clearance is where I go. Many of the blogs I follow boast thrift store shopping. I haven't gotten the hang of it myself. I tend to have great luck with store clearance bargains, especially places like Target, Kohls and Macy's. This is where signing up for store emails helps, they tell you when sales are and sometimes send you coupons.

Seeing as I love bargain shopping, I am always looking for better ways and more ways to save money. So please share what you do!
